This design came in a roundabout way. Like the Integral Strength sigil, it is a ‘practical’ structure, rather than a particularly esoteric one. It’s roots are in the idea that focus on desired outcomes is critical to success, as is accepting the past as past. “Face the future. The past will cling and gather to us.” Klaus Schulze, Shadows of Ignorance
It has nothing to do with hiding from the past, denying the influences of the past, or anything like that. It is about working in the direction you intend to travel. It also is tied in to accepting who & where we are NOW rather than who or where we might wish to be. And doing what we need to do NOW regardless of our comfort with our state. The best explication of this I have heard comes from Zen Psychologist Shoma Morita: "Give up on yourself. Begin taking action now, while being neurotic or imperfect, or a procrastinator or unhealthy or lazy or any other label by which you inaccurately describe yourself. Go ahead and be the best imperfect person you can be and get started on those things you want to accomplish before you die." — Shoma Morita
Recently I heard an ex Navy Seal speaking of these things in a different fashion and a radically different context: "One thing that helped me was the idea of front-sight focus. As a SEAL, you learn to select the right targets to go after — and to go after them with a vengeance. You laser-focus all of your efforts and resources on it until you have mission completion. You don’t get distracted by all of the other low-hanging fruit, but you [also] don’t get tunnel vision. You’re very flexible and willing to shift fire to a new target if something pops up.” Mark Devine
The actual seed of the sigil came from three words from Fabeku Fatunmise : Face Fucking Forward. Face Fucking Forward it is.
