The Stag & Three Nails

170.00

I’ve been working on this Stag-Skull on and off for awhile, trying out options of things to place between the horns. After reading Daniel Bran Griffith’s monograph “The Three Nails, The Six Ways, The Stang, And The Compass” I decided on the Three Nails. The Stag-Skull is a symbol of the Forest Lord, in his role as both Hunter and Hunted, the living and the dead. As Herne The Hunter he leads the Wild Hunt across the night skies. The Three Nails form a ‘hex rune’, a symbol that shows the Six Ways- North, South, East, West, Above and Below- another form of the classic World Tree. My thanks to Mr. Griffith for his inspiration on this one! He can be found at his blog, The Chattering Magpie.
